Crystal Care Merceode Lodge, Marchwood
Ocean Harmony performed for residents at Crystal Care Merceode Lodge in Marchwood, near Southampton. The programme included The Wellerman, which was particularly well received. Claire from Crystal Care praised the performance and confirmed that a full complement of residents enjoyed the singing. Following discussions with Peter, Ocean Harmony’s Sing-out Manager, the home is exploring the possibility of arranging performances on a quarterly basis, subject to availability.
Home Park Nursing Home
Ocean Harmony sang for residents and staff at Home Park Nursing Home in Horton Heath.
A good turnout of chorus members performed a varied selection of popular songs with opportunities for the audience to join in. Annie’s Song by John Denver, a recent addition to our repertoire was clearly a favourite, with several residents and staff singing along.
The Southern Gentlemen Quartet, made up of Ocean Harmony members, added to the entertainment with two performances from their own repertoire
Music in the City
Ocean Harmony joined Southampton’s Music in the City celebration performing at St Joseph’s Church to a warm and enthusiastic audience. Paul Keeping demonstrated the magic of four-part harmony before teaching the audience a short barbershop tag, which they enthusiastically embraced.
One supporter described it as the best sing-out she had experienced.
Southampton City Centre busking
The chorus stopped for a song or two on the way to the historic and popular Dancing Man where, as always, a warm welcome was waiting. Delighted customers loved the four-part harmony and one bought the whole group a beer as a thank you
Beaulieu Village Fete
Ocean Harmony provided the visitors to the Beaulieu Summer Fete with a varied programme of songs with The Wellerman and Beyond the Sea proving to be very popular. A lovely sunny afternoon and a big crowd had a great time in the wonderful grounds of Palace House. A charming and traditional summer fete in the best tradition.
The chorus were also very active promoting the upcoming Sing in Harmony course at the event
Milford on Sea Music Festival
Ocean Harmony was happy to take centre stage at the hugely popular Milford-on-Sea Music Festival.
Our all-male a cappella choir was given the task of being the warm-up act on day two of the amazing, annual outdoor event, which attracts talented performers from in and around the New Forest. The audience were treated to a varied set of harmonic tunes from OH, including numbers from musicals, the world of pop, traditional barbershop songs and a sea shanty..
